In its continuous attempt to preserve the Basque-American heritage, Boise's Basque Museum and Cultural Center is now immersed in a new and “very exciting” chapter, as put by Eneko Tuduri, intern at the educational institution, in a conversation with EuskalKultura.com. Tuduri is digitalizing the historic 'Basque Radio Program,' aired between the years 1952 and 1984, on KBOI, and "listened even in Canada, and Mexico."

The latest edition of Laburbira, will begin on February 25 in Hernani, Gipuzkoa. Laburbira is the circuit of Basque shorts sponsored by the Topagunea Association. This year, the festival will present 8 new productions in Basque. For another year, the circuit will also travel the Diaspora with a session in Paris on March 12. Following, the rest of the dates.

Coordinated by Begoña Muñiz, the Department of Basque Language and Culture at the College of the Euskal Echea School in Buenos Aires City and Llavallol, organizes Basque and Basque culture classes in three levels at this traditional Basque-Argentine institution. The project is backed by FEVA and has a teaching team comprised of Muñiz, Gabriela Mendia, Maite Azkarate, Ioar Oteiza, Aitor Alava and Iñaki Aramayo

The Donostia Restaurant is triumphing with its Basque food offerings among the wide range of offerings in London. Its menu includes pintxos and traditional dishes, although, “always with a modern touch and great attention paid to quality and fresh products.” The restaurant announced yesterday that it is looking for a cook to include on the team. The motto of this year’s festival is “Independence,” alluding to the Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence in Argentina. On this occasion the Basque club in San Juan will join in the parade with a thematic float. The float will carry a full-size 3D reproduction of Picasso’s Gernika, created by member Pablo Varela. The traditional Sun Festival will begin on Friday February 26 at 21:00.

This past February 8, over 20 people gathered at the Basque Museum in Boise to start an Ageda Deuna route around the Basque Block. “It was a very nice thing,” as Eneko Tuduri, intern at the Museum, told EuskalKultura.com. “Most of us were language students but singing they sounded like native speakers.”

The catalog, created by the Delegation of Euskadi in Argentina-Mercosur, with the collaboration of the Basque TV (ETB), is divided into two categories: Films, and Documentaries - Reports. The material can be requested by clubs through a formal request that specifies the title of interest and when it will be aired.

Christian Etxeberri is a Chilean radiologist living in Santiago and learning Basque at the capital's Euzko Etxea. Elisabeth Etchegaray, is from Argentina and is a Basque teacher at the Basque Club in Azul. Both have learned Basque in their respective countries, and without ever stepping foot in the Basque Country but they practice every week via Skype with the Mintzanet platform. “For me it is like fixing a broken chain,” Elisabeth says.

Attendees at this year's Elko Basque Festival will be able to bring home a special keepsake. The Euskal Etxea is planning to turn their festival's program into a small magazine, filled with anecdotes, stories, and old photos from member families. Cassandra Torrealday is in charge of the project and she told EuskalKultura.com that, besides helping them raise money, “this will turn the program into something that people would enjoy saving.”

The vice-minister of Linguistic Policy of the Basque Government has presented an online Basque-German/German-Basque dictionary, along with a general dictionary, the updated Elhuyar dictionary as well as six other dictionaries of terms approved by the Basque Government's Commission of Terminology of the Euskera Advisory Board. “Conversation Models” was also presented, a recommended guide for anyone studying Euskera at Basque clubs (see links)
