Cider expert Matthew Beason and chef John Eisensmith will open “a truly Basque 'txotx'” cider house in late March in Durham, North Carolina, as the former told EuskalKultura.com. The restaurant will combine fast casual dining with top ciders from all over the world, including some from Euskal Herria. “As far as I know, it will be the first restaurant in the US where you will get up from the table to fill your glass directly from the barrel, the same way it's done in the Basque Country.”

Today at 8pm there will be a concert concluding the choral workshop that is organized annually by the Lagun Onak Association in Buenos Aires. This is its 7th edition, and had an enrollment of more than 40 participants. The pieces chosen were the sacred works by Vivaldi. The recital will take place at Laurak Bat Basque Club, and admission is free and open to the public. Lagun Onak also let us know that auditions will begin in March and its first concert of 2016 will take place in April at the City’s Culture Konex.

Basque writers and artists such as Harkaitz Cano, Ixiar Rozas, Oskar Alegria and Peio Aguirre will be in Liverpool in March 11th, to take part in a conference meeting about collaborative networks and Basque art and literature. The conference will include an screening of Alegria's documentary "Emak Bakia" (2012) and a reading by author Ixair Rozas. Organized by the Manuel Irujo Chair of the Unversity of Liverpool.

Guests from Pergamino, Capitan Sarmiento, Buenos Aires and Jose C. Paz joined in the festivities last weekend to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Basque club in Arrecifes. The program includes music, dance, greetings from other Basque institutions and special gifts for Euskaldunak Denak Bat, one of the clubs with the longest traditions in the province of Buenos Aires.

This past Sunday, February the 21st, Basques from the east coast of Canada celebrated 'Inauteriak,' or the Basques carnivals, for the first time. Around 40 people gathered at the event geared towards children “from 3 to 86,” as the event's flyers read. “These types of events are important to keep the culture alive through the generations,” Sylvie Nadaud, organizer, told EuskalKultura.com

A group of musicians, dantzaris and amateur actors from Iparralde are working on a Pastoral about Katalina Erauso, the mythic nun that, in the 17th century, fled to America dressed as a man and lived a life full of adventures and battles. The Pastoral will debut in June in Baiona and will be performed later in Donostia. The organizers have launched a campaign looking for support and financing that has already been supported by Basque clubs in Paris, Pau and Switzerland.

The Euzko Alkartasuna Basque club will turn 57 on Sunday. At the same time, the hotel that houses the Basque club has also recently celebrated its 50th. In hopes of celebrating both birthdays, Basques in Macachin organized a program of activities or the weekend that included a Mus Tournament and lunch for everybody. Tickets for both activities are on sale at the club.

Organized by the Society of Basque Studies, Eusko Ikaskuntza in Baiona, the international conference entitled “Art and the Basque Diaspora” will take place this week. The first session will be on Thursday at the Basque Museum in Baiona, and the second will move to Donostia to the San T elmo Museum, on Friday. In addition to Thursday’s session, the exhibit “Artistic Views of the Basque Diaspora” will also open, an exhibit that will tour the Basque Country until 2017.

The Idaho Stampede, the NBA's Development basketball team from Boise, will partner with the city's Ikastola to raise funds for the Basque preschool with $5 of each already discounted ticket, going to the educational institution. The Basque Museum and Cultural Center invites sports fans to join them “for a fun time,” as reported to EuskalKultura.com.
