An emotional moment occurred on Saturday night, during the dance evening, at the Semana Nacional Vasca Argentina 2015 in Macachin. Josu Erkoreka, Basque Government spokesman, who led the delegation in Macachin representing the Lehendakari, paid tribute to Iñaki Unamuno, president of the hosting Basque club, by dance an Aurresku for him.

Providing the public the most traditional dances as well as some modern ones, the dancers from Argentina were once again featured at the Semana Nacional Vasca. The show was very exciting and was the close to another intense day that began at 10am with meetings, talks, more excursions and a tamborrada.

Two weekends ago, on October the 24th, the New England Basque Club celebrated its annual Cider Day. Around 80 people gathered, in the words of the organizers, to enjoy food, some rural sports, a conference and, for the first time, cider making. “We had a blast,” as club member Roberto Guerenabarrena told EuskalKultura.com.

Improvisers from the Canary Islands, Catalonia and the Basque Country will gather this Friday and Saturday in Barcelona as part of the “Europa bat-batean/Suddenly Europe” event. In September there was another event in Leon, and after begin in Barcelona will move to Donostia in the spring and summer as part of the collaboration with the Donostia 2016 European Cultural Capital.

In a very joyous atmosphere and with everyone being very satisfied with the event, organizers and participants alike, Semana Nacional Vasca 2015 concluded yesterday in Macachin. The local Euzko Alkartasuna raised the bar pretty high for Euzko Etxea in Necochea who will host the next edition in November. In addition to the present article, EuskalKultura.com will publish, starting tomorrow, a chronicle of the events including photos and video.

The third edition of the Basque Film Festival organized by the Gernika Deutsch-Baskischer Kulturverein Basque club begins this Thursday. Over four days, they will show five films made in the Basque Country: Lasa eta Zabala, Amaren eskuak, Eceverriatik Etxeberriara, Ateak zabalduz, and will close with Loreak that has been nominated for an Oscar. In addition to this the Basque club in Berlin will also provide other activities during the month including talks, screenings, writers’ meetings and recitals.

The book gathers works of participants in the International Contests “Witchcraft in the Basque Country,” in 2012, and “What Happened to a Basque,” in 2013. Comprised of some 60 short stories, the book is the first publication by the sub-commission of Culture at the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea. Attending the ceremony were authors, members of the jury as well as club board members.

The best Mus players from Basque clubs around the world will gather tomorrow in Mar del Plata, Argentina, where the 38th World Mus Championships of Basque Communities will take place. Participants are from Argentina (A&B), Australia, Chile, Spain, Euskadi, France, Mexico A (2014 Champions) and B, Uruguay, the Venezuela and the US.

Alex Raij and Eder Montero, owners and chefs of Txikito Restaurant, in New York, will publish their first cook book on April 19, 2016. Although it is more than six months from now, ‘The Basque Book: A love letter from the kitchen of Txikito’ is “completely finished,” as Montero told EuskalKultura.com. “It’s a reference book for anybody to use, but with the touch of Txikito’s style,” he added.
