Juan Mari Fundazuri has quit as the Pelotari's Union Representative (UAW-IJAPA), after retiring from professional sports on January 13th. As he told EuskalKultura.com, “the union has not chosen a new representative yet, but I guess they will soon.” Fundazuri has mixed feelings about his new reality and doesn't forget that the sport's future is still in a compromised situation, even though Florida's House of Representatives has again postponed the decision about whether to allow Frontons to install slot machines−their most important game to date.

Last year was the 20th anniversary of 'Amerikanuak! Basques in the High Desert,' an exhibition created by the High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon. After being showcased for several months, it was dismantled but the cultural institution also created an offshoot of the original work which is still traveling and being exhibited, sporadically. Likewise, 'Hidden in plain sight: the Basques' was created in 2010 by the Basque Museum of Boise, Idaho, and inaugurated in New York, intended to travel around the country. In a conversation with EuskalKultura.com, Faith Brower, Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the High Desert Museum, said that the importance of these exhibits lies in the fact that they “explore a cultural community that many people are still unaware of.”

We have been asked several times, and so we felt it warranted an article: when are in 2016 the main NABO and FEVA Basque community gatherings in Argentina and the US? Chronologically, the first national get-together will be the NABO Convention that will be this year in Chino, California July 203, hosted by the Southern California Basque Club. In Argentina, the Semana Nacional Vasca will be held November 11-13 in Necochea hosted by local Euzko Etxea. But there is more.
