Recently turning 93, the Euskal Echea in Comodoro Rivadavia summarizes some of their latest activities

The month of May was especially active for the Euskal Echea in Comodoro Rivadavia.  The local Basques participated with their choir and dantzaris in very important community activities.  The club also gathered members and friends for lunch to celebrate its 93rd anniversary, and just prior welcomed the Delegate Sara Pagola. She commented that the Euskal Etxea in Comodoro “is a very active one, especially in regards to their youth.”

The Navarrese town of Lekunberri will host the 28th Day of the Absent Navarrese this Saturday

The Mayor of Lekunberri, Natalia Azcona, the Minister of Citizen and Institutional Relations of the Government of Navarre, Ana Ollo, and Salvador Torres, president of the National Federation of Navarran Homes of Spain (photoGovernment of Navarre)

Lekunberri will be the site on Saturday, June 4 of the events to celebrate the 28th Day of the Absent Navarrese-Kanpoan diren Nafarren Eguna, a day celebrated annually that gathers Navarrans who live outside of the province. Events will begin the night before with a visit of the Plazaola station, a tour of Lekunberri, presentation of the event at city hall and tribute paid to the town by the National Federation of Navarrese Clubs of Spain.

Basque cinema: Cinevasc begins in La Plata, organized by the Etxepare Basque language and culture lecturer

Every Monday of the month of June, the Basque language and culture lecturer from the Etxepare Basque Institute at the National University of La Plata will provide a film series with four Basque movies.  The first event will take place on Monday the 6th, with Amama with the starring actress, Iraia Elias, in attendance.  The free series will take place at the Pasaje Dardo Rocha Cultural Center, and is open to the public.

A group of Basque-Argentines, from Saladillo, successfully debuted an “a la carte” trip to the Basque Country with Bask in Motion

The travel agency, Bask in Motion, based in Hernani, proposes a new way to get to know Euskal Herria, with trips organize a la cart and experiences “to feel, smell, touch, and ultimately, feel the heartbeat of the Basque culture.”  The first to try it was a group of 21 Basque-Argentines from the Itxaropen Basque Club in Saladillo and Corpus Cristi in Misiones, that between dances, tamborradas, boat trips and much more had a wonderful time.”  Do you want to organize your own experience?  We will tell you how.

The Diaspora can now use eLiburutegia, a Basque Government e-book lending service

eLiburutegia is a lending service of electronic books through the internet that the Basque Government, responsible for its creation and maintenance, has put at the disposal of the Basque citizenry.  Now, thanks to the Directorate for the Basque Community Abroad, the Diaspora is now able to access this Digital Library; the only requirement is to fill out a form on the Department of Education, Linguistic Policy and Culture’s website.

Recognition of its Basque Film Series and another step in the diffusion of Euskera at Askatasunaren Bidea in San Miguel

The Askatasunare Bidea received recogniztio by the Municipality of San Miguel for its Basque Film Series

Two pieces of good news from San Miguel, from the local Basque association Askatasunaren Bidea.  First, their Basque Film Series organized by the club has been declared of Municipal Interest.  Secondly, the Euskera and culture workshops by Mariana Fernandez Castelli will have an addition from this week, with new specific Euskera classes.  The first Euskera class will take place this Friday, June 3 and will be taught by Martin Colombet.

BaskFest 2016 is a festival organized by a group of Basque artists and creators who live in London who will show their work off all weekend in Dalston. The festival is supported by Donostia 2016 and will include expositions, art performances, drawing and music, txalaparta, dance, folk and DJs until dawn at this free event.
