Every April 26 the anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika is commemorated worldwide. This year too, on that day and throughout the week, Basque clubs in Argentina join with Basque communities around the world, including those in Euskadi, to carry out various activities in remembrance of the tragic event and to express their solidarity with the victims. Buenos Aires, Argentina. Talks, documentaries, tributes….during these last few days, the Basque community has remembered the 79th anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika in a variety of ways, full of memories and awareness. The network has also become a kind of window in which institutions and individuals rally so that massacres like the one that occurred in Bizkaia in 1937 will never happen again.
In the heart of the Argentine Basque clubs, some on April 26, and others on the days following, commemorated the anniversary renewing their commitment every year. Following a summary of the activities that took place: at the Euskaldunak Denak Bat, in Arrecifes; Eusketxe and Ekin, in Buenos Aires, Gerora in Córdoba; Euskal Echea School, in Llavallol; Gure Etxe Maitea, in Olavarría; Zazpirak Bat in Rosario; and Beti Aurrera Aberri Etxea, in Viedma-Patagones.
