Montevideo, Uruguay. Haize Hegoa celebrated 32 years on March 1st, one year after the increasing of Coronavirus cases in the southern cone, and with celebrating at the clubhouse made impossible, they held two events on social media. On the one hand, they asked their friends to define what the Basque club means to them in one word. In the list terms appeared like, “Family,” “Hugs,” and “Joy,” as well as “Adiskidetasuna,” (friendship), “Lagunak,” (friends) and “Udaleku,” to name a few.
The other proposal was to send photos of Shared moments. “Due to the pandemic this year we can’t hold an in person celebration, and so we will celebrate from a distance, but together as always,” Mariel Fernandez Artasanchez, club reference told EuskalKultura.eus. To see the photos, click here.
Faced with a new year in which it is not yet clear whether it will be possible to return permanently to in person activities, Haize Hegoa has planned activities that can be carried out virtually and/or in person, as the country’s health situation allows. The first initiation is for March 24th at 7:30pm. In tribute to Women in their Month, Maite Bengoa will give a talk on Zoom entitled, “Basque Women in Pre-History”
Zorionak Haize Hegoa!
