"Zuri guztiak ez dira elurrak" (Not all white is snow/All that glitters is not gold), “kea baino alferragoa izan” (to be lazier than smoke), “zain eta muin” (in body and soul)…the blog esaerajatorrak.com, created by Maite Goñi, a professor in Ordizia, publishes a Basque proverb every day with its English and Spanish equivalents. It is a fun and easy way of approaching the vast heritage of Basque sayings, for Basque students as well as for native speakers that, in some cases, don’t know all the ways to express oneself in Basque.

Donostia-San Sebastian. Professor Maite Goñi from Ordizia is a very active Member of the Basque blogosphere where she stands out for her contribution to the dissemination and the learning of Basque. She is the creator, among others, of the Gaurkohitza (Word of the Day) project, that publishes a new Basque word every day in order to make the language known and encourage its usage.

In February Goñi began a new project: the blog esaerajatorrak.com introduces proverbs and sayings in Basque. The blog publishes a new proverb every day with a brief explanation in Basque and its equivalents in other languages, generally English and Spanish.
