Birmingham, England. The University of Birmingham will begin its third edition of the “Basque, Catalan and Galician Cinema Season” tomorrow, organized, among others, by the Basque language and culture lecturer supported by the Etxepare Institute. Admission is free and the event is open to students as well as to people outside of the university.
Screenings will take place at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts and there will be three in all. The first will take place tomorrow, with Zorion Perfektua by Basque director, Jabi Elortegi. The session will begin at 2:30 p.m., and will be attended by Elortegi himself who will also participate in an audience discussion following the movie. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Anjel Lertxundi and stars actress and TV personality, Anne Igartiburu.
The next showing will take place on May 16 with Doentes, directed by Gustavo Balza. The director will also be present during the screening and will also answer audience questions afterwards. The festival will end on May 23 with Els nens salvatges by Catalan director Patricia Ferreira. In this case, the co-producer Gonzalo Bendala, will present the film.
