“Flavors and Sounds of the Basque Land," Chef Itziar Aguirre and singer Anne Etchegoyen together in Rosario

One, a local Basque from Rosario, Argentina (Aguirre) and another from Donapaleu, in Behe Nafarroa (Etchegoyen) will perform a show on April 19 at the Ros Tower Hotel in Rosario that is unique since it brings together both sides of the Atlantic, and two artistic expressions: gastronomy and music. The Argentinean chef will prepare a typical menu while the public will enjoy the voice of Anne Etchegoyen and her repetoire in Euskera, French and Spanish. During her show tour through Argentina, Etchegoyen will also perform at the Salta y Resto Restaurant in Buenos Aires and at the Aberri Eguna celebration at Rosario’s Zazpirak Bat Basque club.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Anne Etchegoyen was brought to Argentina in 2013 at the invitation of MICA – Mercado de Industrias Culturales Argentinas.  The commitments and interviews that she has to fulfill will not get in the way, however, of her getting to know the local people and presenting three performances in Buenos Aires and Rosario on April 18, 19, and 20.

Flavors and Sounds of the Basque Land

“Flavors and Sounds of the Basque Land” is the title of the dinner show that Anne Etchegoyen will bring to the Ros Tower Hotel in Rosario along with Chef Itziar Aguirre.  The show includes the live preparation of a five-course meal where the Basque-Rosarian cook will display her abilities in the area of gastronomy.  On the other hand, the singer, born in Donapaleau, will present part of her repertoire with songs in Basque, French  and Spanish.  “Flavors and Sounds of the Basque Land” will take place on April 19 and will cost $325; for reservations contact the hotel at: 341 529 9000 or by email at banquetes@rostower.com.ar. The third and final concert on Etchegoyen’s brief tour of Argentina will take place in Rosario during the Aberri Eguna (Basque Homeland) celebration at the local Zazpirak Bat Basque club on April 20 at 9:30 p.m.

Itziar Aguirre is a reference for Basque gastronomy in Argentina, in the area of creations as well as the elaboration of dishes.  She has been in charge of Zazpirak Bat’s restaurant for 18 years; as well as the promoter and driving force behind the “Pilpileando Argentina,” program.  Outside of Basque club activities, Aguirre also participated on TV programs on various channels.

In regards to Anne Etchegoyen, the singer has a remarkable track record in the world of music in Iparralde and this is the third visit that she has made to Argentina.  She has recorded four albums and a fifth is in the works.  Her repertoire includes pieces in Basque, French and Spanish.
