10/27/2017 - Kuna, Idaho, USA

1934 ~ 2017

Tomasa Goitiandia, 83, of Kuna died of natural causes on Friday, October 27, 2017, at a local hospital.

She was born in Mountain Home, Idaho on September 22, 1934, to Justo and Maria Erdoisa. Tomasa was raised in Bruneau, Idaho along with her sisters and best friends Carmen and Marie. Tomasa was proud to have been an American Legion Auxiliary Girls State delegate representing Bruneau High School in 1951. She graduated with honors in 1952.

Tomasa and her sisters loved going to Basque dances with their friends. It was at one of these dances that she met the love of her life, Benedicto Goitiandia. Tomasa and Benedicto married on October 29, 1960, enjoying fifty-seven years of marriage. They were very proud of their two sons, David and Ramon. Tomasa and Benedicto were very involved in the Basque community. Many gatherings were held where Tomasa was well-known for cooking delicious meals at a moment's notice for large groups of people. The Goitiandia tables at the annual Basque picnic were always well visited.

Tomasa is survived by her husband, Benedicto, of Kuna; sons David (Anna) of Kuna and Ramon (Diana) of Boise; granddaughters Michele Thompson (J.J.), Julianna Goitiandia, and Andresa Goitiandia; and great-grandson Kenji Thompson. Tomasa is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins in both the United States and Spain. She was preceded in death by her parents Justo and Maria Erdoisa; brother Anjel; and sisters Lola, Carmen, and Marie. The family would like to thank St. Luke's Hospital, Advanced Family Medicine, and Horizon Home Health for the kindness and compassion shown to Tomasa and her family.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, November 5, 2017, at St. Mark's Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2017. Burial will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Basque Museum and Cultural Center.
