Theresa Ann Aguirre, of Elko, NV, was born on June 19, 1956 to Angelo and Mary Aguirre. Theresa continued her journey home on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
Theresa grew up in Elko, NV and graduated from Elko High School in 1974. She remained in Elko all of her life and worked many years at Goicoechea and DiGrazia and as a credit counselor at Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Nevada, where she also facilitated classes at Elko High School, teaching students basic life skills and budgeting. Theresa also worked for Elko Mental Health, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and where she made some of her best friends. In January 2020, Theresa retired from Nevada Highway Patrol.
Theresa enjoyed being outdoors, going to her Aunt Margie's ranch in Ruby Valley, volunteering at the Annual Basque Festival in Elko, volunteering at the Silver Stampede in Elko, listening to music, cooking big meals, and being with her family. She also made many lifelong friends while serving as the Secretary of the Elko County Fair Board. Her great nieces and nephews were the lights of her life, and any time spent with them was her favorite time. She spoiled them rotten and enjoyed many laughs with them. Theresa also loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, spoiling them, cooking their favorite meals, caring for them, and never missing any of their sporting events.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Mary Aguirre; her grandparents, Guy and Angela Aguirre and Joe and Ida Maretoli. Theresa is survived by her 4 sisters, Rosanna Gignac, Denise Perry, Adrienne Urdaneta, and Stephanie Aguirre; her nieces and nephews, Brandon Gignac, Chelsea Gignac, Kassi Morris, Kellen Morris, Joseba Urdaneta, and Angelo Jones; her great nieces and nephews, Jacob Ortiz, Zachary Ortiz, Jayla Gelispie, Da'quan Gelispie, Carter Urdaneta, Griffin Gignac, J'rue Morris, and Parker Morris; her "other" sisters, Julie Wright and her partner in crime, Susie "Susie Q" Wines, as well as many cousins and friends.
At Theresa's request, there will not be a funeral at this time, but the family will be having an intimate Celebration of Life in her honor. Theresa was an angel on earth for so many and has now gained her wings and will continue to be with all her loved ones each and every day. The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the medical staff that provided such exemplary care to Theresa during her last days: Dr. Graham, Dr. Thao, Dr. Zacharias, Dr. James, all the doctors and nurses at Renown Medical Center, and Kindred Home Health
