Richard Dix “Dick” Jayo, 88, Husband, Father, Cowboy, life-long resident of Owyhee County passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015. Dick was born in Boise, Idaho on December 29, 1926 to Francisco Jayo and Francis Letemendi one of nine children.

Dick was raised on his parent’s ranch in Oreana, Idaho and worked there until he was fifteen when he worked for the Nettleton family. He joined the Army during WWII in the Phillipines and was on his way to the invasion of Japan when they dropped the A-bomb. He returned to Idaho and continued to cowboy for the Nettletons and various ranches in the area. Dick rode bareback, saddle-bronc and team roped in numerous rodeos in the area. In 1950, Dick married Barbara Brunzell of Murphy, Idaho. They had two children {Twins}, Rene Jayo Arana (Sam) and Richard “Rich” Jayo.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel in Nampa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Nampa. Interment will be at the Melba Cemetery following the Mass.
