Richard Marvin Olson was born in Boise, Idaho on April 6, 1935, son of M.F. Olson and Evelyn (Olson) Valenti.
He was the oldest sibling of four: Donna, Karen and Ron.
He graduated from Boise High School in 1953 and attended Boise Junior College from 1953-56, and Washington State University 1957-1958.
He was introduced to his bride to be, Helen Solosabal, through her cousin Al. They married August 25, 1957, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
Dick was dedicated to public service. He worked with various departments at the State of Idaho, and for over 30 years with the Idaho National Guard.
In his later years he and Helen were active contributors to the Boise Basque community.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen, sons David and James Olson, MD (Tracy), 2 grandchildren Patrick and Maggie, brother Ron Olson (Kathy) and several nieces and nephews.
We thank the staff at Grace Memory Care and All Care Hospice for their dedication and compassion.
