The Board of the Union Vasca Basque Mutual Aid Society of Bahia Blanca reported with regret "the death on July 20 of Carlos Raúl Lorda, former lehendakari (president) and accountant for many years in our Basque center, and regular contributor to our institution."

His remains were buried on July 21, 2013 in the local cemetery.
