06/08/2017 - Angelu-Anglet, Lapurdi
Martin Ayçaguer, 81, passed away after a long and hard illness that forced him to be taken care of in the Hospital of Baiona, in its Oncology Service. He was nicknamed "The Chilean," for his close relationship with Chile, for the thirty years he lived in this South American country.
That same love for Chile motivated that after his definitive return from Chile, Martin was the organizer for several editions of the Basque-Chilean meetings that took place every year around the 18 of September, Chilean National Day, being the last editions in Zugarramurdi, Navarre.
Religious services in his memory on June 10 in the Church of St Leon in Angelu-Anglet; and on June 12 at the Church of the Agustinas in Chile's Santiago, with a musical farewell by his friends of the Chile Basque Choir.
