The Etxe-Alai Center of Pehuajó (Province of Buenos Aires) wants to pay a last tribute to "Belcha", María Angélica Mendizábal Mujica de Aristizábal, who yesterday left us:
She was the example of the etxekoandre or lady of the house, which was the axis of traditional Basque life and her kingdom brings strange intimacy to her home in the hamlet. The woman used to be next to the man, never behind. Her decisions and words were always taken into account. These customs mean a certain matriarchy.
"Belcha" was the daughter of Basque parents, with whom she learned Euskera. Together with her husband, Alberto she was a great collaborator of our Basque Center. "A Truly Basque", with deep religious faith, but aware of every moment she had to live. Warm, comprehensive, tolerant, firm and frontal. she gave love and help, not only to her family and friends, but to those in need. Mother of 8 children, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother ... everyone spoiled her and admired her.
Her birthday was on January 28, her house was filled with young and old ... next to her reigned happiness, joy and love. Yesterday at 102, Belcha left silently, surrounded by her entire family, to which she knew how to transmit her philosophy of life, as one of her daughters once said.
Agur ... "Belcha", heaven will be your new house.
