José Perea Sasiain was born in Bilbao on May 5, 1933 and passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 in Bogotá.

His mother was Perpetua Sasiain and his father Andrés Perea Gallaga (Barakaldo, 1898 - Bogotá, 1980), who was the first delegate of the Basque Government in Colombia,

José Perea Sasiain studied Medicine at the University of Colombia and was a researcher at the Sorbonne and Harvard.

He was a long time professor at the National University of Colombia from where he retired.

He trained the students of Medicine and Dentistry for decades from the Chair of Histology.

This Saturday, August 15 at noon a mass in his memory will be streamed online from the Primary Cathedral of Bogotá on Facebook Live so his many friends and his family from Colombia, as well as from the Basque Country and Spain, and the United States will be able to accompany him.
