Jose Antonio Oiz was born in the Basque Country province of Navarre. He immigrated to the US at the age of 20 where he lived as a sheepherder in the Central Valley.
Settling in the Bay Area, he began his family and landscaping business.
He was a dedicated hard worker and wise father. A proud Vasco, he was a contributing founder of the Basque Cultural Center in San Francisco, where he enjoyed playing in Mus Tournaments and being with loyal friends.
He was humble by nature, generous by heart, and courageous in life.
