Gilbert was born and raised in Santa Fe NM, he was the 10th child of 10 children, he is survived by brother Claudio Larragoite. He was born to Armando Larragoite Sr. and Paula Quintana Larragoite

He went to Guadalupe elementary, St Michael's High school, and graduated from St Michael's College. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean war. Gilbert was proud of his Basque heritage and of his deep New Mexican roots

He is survived by Marjorie Parker Larragoite, his wife of 50 years, his children Victor Larragoite and Lois Larragoite Leon. He has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who remember and miss their papa Gil.
